How Do I Participate?

1. Submit Talent Search Application

Register online (available July 15, 2010)
OR
Complete the Talent Search paper application included with the brochure and mail to CTY with nonrefundable $37 fee payable to CTY/JHU. You may print a CTY Talent Search paper application here (starting July 15, 2010).

Look for your school code for the Talent Search application.

2. Receive test registration materials

CTY will mail you a welcome packet explaining the next step - registering to take the SAT and ACT. Please read the materials carefully when you receive them.

IMPORTANT: It is your responsibility to contact CTY at 410-735-6278 or ctyinfo@jhu.edu if you have not received your test registration packet three weeks after submitting your Talent Search application.

3. Register to test

Register for the SAT or ACT by mailing in the test registration form.
To find test centers, please visit the SAT test center locator or the ACT test center locator.

If you are a student who requires special conditions for testing, please consult your test registration booklet or CTY's Testing with Disabilities Page for more information.

4. Take the SAT or ACT

CTY Talent Search application fee = $37
+
SAT Test registration fee = $45
OR

ACT Test registration fee = $32

 

Eligibility: CTY 7th Grade and Above

You are eligible for CTY courses for 7th grade and above if you:

  • have completed 7th grade and are 12 years old by June 30, 2010
  • do not turn 17 before September 1, 2010

AND

  • have required minimum scores on the SAT or ACT, or combination of one of those tests and CTY's Spatial Test Battery (STB).

CTY's Talent Search offers the SAT, STB, and ACT. The required scores for those tests are shown here. Once you achieve the qualifying score(s) for a subject area, you remain eligible until you reach the age limit for the program. You need not retest.
